Off-season
When everyone has left, the nicest time begins.
Between November and March, the western Algarve offers mild days, quiet beaches and walking paths where you may not meet anyone for hours.
The Algarve is not empty in winter, it is relaxed. The restaurants that are open serve mainly locals again, the parking spaces at the bays are free, and the view from the upper terrace is the same as in August.

Good weather for walking
The coastal paths can be walked comfortably in winter without heat. The flowering season starts in February.
More affordable periods
Outside the high season, longer stays are considerably less expensive. Simply ask for availability.
Work possible
Wi-Fi throughout the house, a large dining table and several quiet corners for video calls.
Space for longer stays
Washing machine, a proper kitchen, and three bedrooms easily turn two weeks into two months.
Staying longer
A house that still works well after four weeks.
Anyone staying longer needs more than a hotel room: a place to cook, a space to work and rooms where you can avoid each other. All three are available here.

Honest about it
What you should not expect in winter.
The pool is not heated. From November to March, it is pleasant to look at but too cold for most to swim in.
It can rain, usually in short, heavy bursts, and the wind is a constant companion on this coast. Those prepared for this enjoy light and space not found in summer.
Some beach restaurants close between November and February. Vila do Bispo, Lagos and Sagres have enough places open year-round.
