Ingrina Sol · Vila do Bispo

Between Raposeira and the coast, where the natural park begins.

Ingrina Sol is a small, quiet residential area in the municipality of Vila do Bispo. From here, it is just a few minutes to the bays of the Costa Vicentina and twenty minutes to Cabo de São Vicente.

The West Algarve is noticeably different from the east. Instead of a continuously built-up coastline, there are cliffs, individual bays and, in between, fields and scrubland. A large part of this area is protected.

Villa Sonata is located right in this landscape: close enough to the road to reach places quickly, yet far enough away to hear only the wind and crickets in the evenings.

Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe near Raposeira

Raposeira

A village with history, not a resort.

Raposeira is an established village on the N125, with a café, bakery and small shops. On the edge of the village stands the Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, one of the oldest chapels in the Algarve, closely linked with Henry the Navigator.

A few minutes away is the Menir do Padrão, a prehistoric menhir by the field path towards Ingrina. Both are quiet places that can be visited within fifteen minutes.

Everyday life locally

Shopping, dining, refuelling.

For daily shopping, Vila do Bispo is sufficient: there you will find a supermarket, a pharmacy and a petrol station. Larger shopping and more selection can be found in Lagos.

Food along this coast is simple and good. In Salema, Raposeira and on Praia da Ingrina there are establishments with fresh fish, often with views of the water. Reservations are advisable in mid-summer, rarely needed in spring and autumn.

A hire car is practically essential in western Algarve. The bus does operate but infrequently, and the most attractive bays lie at the end of dirt tracks.
